I don't understand...it seems from a prestige AND monetary standpoint , Andretti Autosport would be better for JPM than Furniture Row Racing .

No, not at all. FRR is an RCR car (which are perhaps the best in the series for any given driver, as while the HMS and JGR cars are faster, they're far more fragile) without RCR pretenses (no grandchildren to sit behind). They put their only car in the chase this year and did so without having to deal with the chicanery for the bubble positions. AA, meanwhile, was trying to add a fifth or even sixth car to a program that's struggled to keep anything but their signature cars afloat every time they've tried to add them for the last six or seven years.
